Hockey Centre and Olympic Hockey Tickets

London's Olympic Hockey Centre will be built in the Olympic Park at Hackney in east London, United Kingdom. It will have two venues for the Olympic hockey competition at the 2012 Summer Olympics with capacities of 15,000 and 5,000 respectively, and venues for the Paralympics football seven-a-side and football five-a-side competitions at the 2012 Summer Paralympics. The budget for the centre is £19 million. After the games the hockey centre will be scaled down to a 5,000 seat arena and a training pitch and moved north to Eton Manor. In January 2011, Leyton Orient F.C. expressed an interest in moving into the Hockey Centre after the games.

Pakistan National Hockey Team and Olympic Hockey Tickets

Hockey was originally brought to Pakistan under British rule, and like cricket soon became popular with the local population. The Pakistan Hockey Federation came into being in 1948, following the independence and partition into Pakistan and India. Prior to these players from what is now Pakistan had competed internationally alongside players from what is now India. In the beginning, the Federation's membership included the Provincial Hockey/Sports Associations of West Punjab, East Bengal, Sindh, Balochistan,Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Bahawalpur & Services Sports Board. Pakistan played their first international in London when they defeated Belgium 2-1 in 14th Olympic Games hockey tournament on 2 August 1948.
The first President of PHF was Raja Ghazanfar Ali Khan with Baseer Ali Sheikh as Honorary Secretary. The Pakistan national side soon established a strong reputation in international competition, helping to mainatin interest in the game in Pakistan which assisted the growth of the Federation. However, no full-time central office or secretariat, as such, was established until the 1960s.
The office of the Pakistan Hockey Federation, located in National Hockey Stadium, Lahore, Lahore, was developed into a Secretariat in 1971. It was during the second term as president of Air Marshal M. Nur Khan from 1978 that Pakistani hockey entered something of a golden age. National Senior, National Junior and Women Hockey Teams were all competing internationally, increasing the work load of PHF Office and secretary Brigadier M.H.Atif tremendously. On the personal initiative of Air Marshal M. Nur Khan, the FIH introduced the World Cup Tournament and the Champions Trophy Tournament, which are now rated amongst the major international tournaments, alongside the Olympics. At this time, Pakistan held all the major titles in men's international hockey.
However, the 1976 Olympics in Montreal had seen the introduction of artificial turf to international hockey competition. Pakistan was unable to build as many of the new pitches as the European nations or Australia and New Zealand and so the strength of the national side declined. It was after a lapse of 12 years that the Pakistan Hockey Team again started climbing and won the Champions Trophy and the World Cup with Air Vice Marshal Farooq Umar as president and Colonel Mudassar as secretary of the Federation.

Hockey Pitch and Hockey Tickets

Most hockey field dimensions were originally fixed using whole numbers of imperial measures. Nevertheless, metric measurements are now the official dimensions as laid down by the International Hockey Federation (FIH) in the "Rules of Hockey". It is these dimensions that are given in this article, with the imperial units in parentheses.
The pitch is a 91.40 m × 55 m rectangular field. At each end is a goal 2.14 m high and 3.66 m wide measured from the inner sides of the posts and crossbar, and an approximately semi circular area 14.63 m from the goal known as the shooting circle or D or arc, bounded by a solid line, with a dotted line 5 m in this marking was not established until after metric conversion from that, as well as lines across the field 22.90 m from each end line generally referred to as the 23 m lines and in the center of the field. A spot 0.15m in diameter, called the penalty spot or stroke mark, is placed with its centre 6.40 m from the centre of each goal.
Traditional grass pitches are far less common in modern hockey with mostly hockey being played on synthetic surfaces. Since the 1970s, sand-based pitches were favored as they dramatically speed up the pace of the game. However, in recent years there has been a massive increase in the number of "water-based" artificial turfs. Water-based synthetic turfs enable the ball to be transferred more quickly than on the original sand-based surfaces and it is this characteristic that has made them the surface of choice for international and national league competitions. Water-based surfaces are also less abrasive than the sand-based variety and hence reduce the level of injury to players when they come into contact with the surface. The FIH are now proposing that new surfaces being laid should be of a hybrid variety which require less watering. This is due to the negative ecological effects of the high water requirements of water-based synthetic fields. In the U.S. field hockey is played mostly in the Northeast region of the country.

Hockey Tickets

Field hockey was introduced at the Summer Olympic Games as a men's competition at the 1908 Games in London, with six teams, including four from the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.
Hockey was removed from the Olympics at the 1924 Paris Games due to the lack of an international sporting structure. The International Hockey Federation was founded in Paris that year as a response to hockey's omission. Men's hockey became a permanent feature at the next Olympic Games, the 1928 Games in Amsterdam. For a long period of time, the South Asian countries of India and Pakistan dominated the Olympics, with either India or Pakistan winning the men's gold medal in every Olympics from 1928 to 1968. Note that in the Olympic Games before 1948, British India included Pakistan. Pakistan and India gained independence in 1947.
Since 1968, various teams from around the world have seen gold-medal success at the Olympics. However, the inclusion of Astroturf since 1976 is noted to have probably contributed to this decline in Indian and Pakistani medals, since the countries that were once dominant on grass have failed to adapt to Astroturf play. Since 1968, several countries in the Southern Hemisphere have won various medals in men's and women's field hockey, including Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, and Zimbabwe. A leading group of teams from the Northern Hemisphere has come from the Netherlands and from Germany. The first women's Olympic hockey competition was held at the 1980 Summer Olympics in Moscow. Olympic field hockey games were first played on artificial turf at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games.
